Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups flour all-purpose
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves optional
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup butter unsalted softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sour cream or yogurt
  • 1 ½ cups apples peeled chopped fresh (about 2 medium apples)
  • ½ cup walnuts chopped or pecans optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla extract.
  4. Stir in sour cream until smooth.
  5. Gradually fold in dry ingredients until just combined. Don’t overmix.
  6. Add chopped apples and nuts if using. Fold gently.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan, smooth the top. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Let cool for 10 minutes, then slice and enjoy warm or at room temperature. Optional: top with powdered sugar or whipped cream.
